I have always loved echo and reverb effects. When I saw this compact, American made echo pedal on sale, brand new, for around $59 I just pushed the BUY button (as it turns out it was on sale for half off the $119 suggested list price). This is my first pedal by J Rockett Audio Designs and it does not disappoint.
The enclosure is small, not as small as some “mini” pedals but about half the size of a Phase 90 pedal. The enclosure is made from folded steel instead of the typical cast aluminum used in most mini pedals. The paint job on my Immortal Echo is a nice heavy coating of deep sky blue with silver silkscreened nomenclature. The mono input and output jacks are on the top of the pedal while the external 9-volt power inlet is on the left side.

On the surface are four knobs, one footswitch and a single LED to indicate when the effect is ON. The knobs control the MIX, REPEATS, TIME and TONE. In use there are no surprises, it’s an echo pedal with a maximum delay time of 680 ms (a little over 1/2 second).

HOW DOES IT SOUND?
The Immortal Echo sounds like what you put into it. The tone from the pedal output is high quality and the repeats stay full range. The TONE control knob rolls-off high-frequecies on the delayed notes so you can get the echos to sit nicely with your dry notes. With the highs pulled back the Immortal Echo sounds a bit more like an analog delay using bucket-brigade chips (in the style of Memory Man™). You can adjust the REPEATS knob to a very high level before it starts to run-away. Overall it is easy to adjust the Immortal Echo to fit comfortably in your lead playing without getting in the way.

Top mounted jacks
Low mA requirement for digital delay
DISLIKES
only 680ms max delay time
EPILOGUE
I certainly did not need another delay pedal but I’m glad I got the Immortal Echo. The compact size combined with fullsize tone makes this little pedal easy to slip into a pedal board layout. At $119 I might look to other echo devices with longer delay times but at the $59 sale price the Immortal Echo is a winner.
