Here is an SM7B microphone setup with this little right-turn adaptor.

For years I kept a few XLR cables with right-angle plugs on them for those odd moments when a straight plug just would not fit or work. An accidental search result introduced me to this handy little adaptor. It’s a simple design that is very adjustable.

Each of the XLR connectors has four positions on 90-degree centers. To adjust the angle or direction you want it to point, you remove the set screw, pull out the wired connector and rotate it to the position you need, then reinstall the set screw.
I’ve bought these adaptors from a few different sources and it’s been the same tech each time, they don’t have a brand on the adaptor. I’ve only found them on Amazon by searching on “right angle XLR adaptor”.

The adaptors in this review had the brand “HQRP” — there was a discount for buying four of them — this got the price down to $6.50 each.
Generally speaking I try to avoid adaptors or anything that might jeopardize a recording but sometimes you just need that right angle for a special circumstance and these shine as a quick fix, not to mention, it is nice not having to go search for my special right angle mic cable. These adaptors fit into a drawer of various microphone widgets and take up almost no space.
EPILOGUE
I was glad when I found the first one of these I ever bought. As much as I tried to find a fault with it this little adaptor has never let me down. It’s not a Neutrik level component but it is affordable, easy to use and easy to adjust for just the right fit -- not to mention, they work!
