Mary and I got a chance to see a reformed version of the Moody Blues at the King Center here in Melbourne, complete with John, Justin and Graeme joined by other performers filling in the missing pieces -- it was one of the most memorable concerts I ever saw (and there were many). We were in the 20th row and it was really great getting to see who was playing and singing the parts in a 2000 seat venue.
After joining the Moody Blues in 1966, John Lodge became one of the principal songwriters for the band and his singing voice was an anchor in the band along with Justin Hayward. I've held out hope of seeing them perform again but now that won't happen. I'm so glad we were able to have that last concert experience with the band, they were a unique and important piece of rock history.
RIP John Lodge, you did good, real good!
