In my case it was a set of speaker stands that arrived missing a single special bolt that holds the base on. Support at Monoprice was quick to respond but lapsed into a seemingly endless back and forth of emails which dragged on for a couple of weeks. As it turned out they had no replacement parts but they told me they were sending me a new pair of stands as a replacement.
I never got the replacement. The company was terrible in resolving my issue and finally I found my own metric bolt to secure the base to the stand (it’s an M8 which is about 2” long). It was much easier to just replace the part myself than to deal with the runaround I received from Monoprice.
I am not going to publish all the details but I have filed all the email correspondence in case they ever decide to respond.
PYLE TO THE RESCUE
As it turned out I needed six of these adjustable metal speaker stands so I ordered a set of the Pyle version through Amazon and they’re much heavier duty than the more expensive Monoprice offering.
EPILOGUE
Based on about a dozen purchases and the guitar I previously bought from Monoprice I had a favorable opinion but I never got a dud before. Remembering the way Monoprice handled support on this most recent purchase, HIGH ON TECHNOLOGY WON’T BE BUYING ANY MORE! (They will be fine without us :-).
Many companies calculate the cost of acquiring customers. Monoprice had me buying from them but the way they do business flushed our customer relationship down the drain forever.
I’m so glad it was just a cheap $27 speaker stand from China which revealed their shaky product support instead of an expensive subwoofer, computer monitor or amplifier.
